Connect your preferred VoIP equipment
SecondRing supports a wide range of SIP-compatible devices, softphones, mobile apps, ATAs, VoIP gateways and PBX systems. With our Bring Your Own Device option, you can use compatible equipment or software with your SecondRing business number.
We can provide the SIP details required to configure your compatible device or app, subject to account approval and technical compatibility. This allows you to keep using your preferred VoIP setup while benefiting from SecondRing’s business calling service.
Use your business number anywhere
You can connect a compatible SIP phone, desktop softphone, mobile softphone, analogue telephone adapter, VoIP gateway or PBX system. This allows you to make and receive calls using your SecondRing business number from the office, home or while working remotely.
When supported by your configuration, your SecondRing number can be presented as your caller ID for outbound calls. This helps you keep your personal number private and maintain a professional business identity.
Depending on your service and device, you may be able to use features such as:
- Inbound and outbound business calls
- Multiple SIP devices or applications
- Call groups and simultaneous ringing
- Voicemail
- Call recording
- Call barring
- Business call routing

SIP configuration details
Once approved, we can provide the SIP details required to register your compatible device or application. You are responsible for entering the configuration correctly and ensuring that your device, application, network and firewall are properly configured.
Some devices and applications may require additional settings for NAT traversal, registration, audio codecs, inbound calling or security. We can confirm basic compatibility, but we may not be able to provide full technical support for every third-party device, app or PBX system.
Security when using your own device
If you supply your own equipment, you may need to perform a factory reset before connecting it to SecondRing. A factory reset will erase the existing configuration, so back up any settings you wish to keep beforehand.
You should also:
- Change the default administrator password
- Use a strong, unique password
- Keep the device or application updated
- Protect your SIP credentials
- Avoid exposing device management interfaces to the public internet
- Secure your local network and firewall
SIP credentials and configuration details must not be shared with unauthorised people. SecondRing is not responsible for unauthorised usage, unexpected charges, security breaches or service disruption caused by an incorrectly configured, unsecured or compromised customer-owned device.
If you prefer a simpler setup, SecondRing may also be able to supply compatible preconfigured equipment.
